Quantities assume a simple rectangular room with main tees every 4 ft and standard 12 ft mains, 4 ft and 2 ft cross tees and hanger wire every 4 ft. Costs use Fixr ranges: tiles by type, grid $1.50-$2.25/sq ft, and pro labor at about $53/hour installing 30-40 sq ft/hour. Order 5-10% extra tiles.
How we calculate
- Tiles: area ÷ 4 (2x2) or ÷ 8 (2x4), plus your waste allowance.
- Main tees: one row every 4 ft across the shorter dimension, 12 ft per piece.
- 4′ cross tees: every 2 ft between mains and walls; 2′ cross tees split each 2x4 opening for 2x2 layouts.
- Wall angle: room perimeter ÷ piece length.
- Hanger wires: every 4 ft along each main tee.
Costs use Fixr’s 2025 ranges: tiles by type, grid at $1.50-$2.25 per sq ft, and professional labor around $53/hour at 30-40 sq ft/hour.
