A suspended ceiling grid is a kit of parts: main tees hung from the joists on wire, cross tees that clip between them, and wall angle (molding) around the edges.
The parts
| Part | Size | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Main tee (main runner) | 12 ft | Perpendicular to joists, every 4 ft, hung on wire |
| 4′ cross tee | 4 ft | Between main tees every 2 ft (2x4) or 2 ft + 2′ tees (2x2) |
| 2′ cross tee | 2 ft | Between 4′ cross tees for a 2x2 layout |
| Wall angle (wall molding) | 10-12 ft | Screwed to the walls at ceiling height |
| Hanger wire + lag/eye screws | 12-gauge typical | Every 4 ft along each main tee |
